Profesor emeritus dr. sc. Ognjen Čaldarović is a doctor of sociology, who additionally specialized abroad, for example in the New School for Social Research (New York City) and Indiana University (Indiana). Since 1997. he is a full time professor at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb, where he teaches various courses, such as “Sociology of Risk”, “Risk Society and Contemporary Sociology”, “Sociological Aspects of City Management”, etc. During his career he has served as an advisor to the following institutions: The World Bank (Washington D.C.), The Urban Institute (Washington D.C.), Research Triangle Institute (Washington D.C.). He was the president of the Croatian Sociological Society and the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal “Journal of Sociology”. Some of his books: “Sociology and War. Social Consequences of the War in Croatia 1991-1992. ”,“ Social Theory and Gambling Life. Risks and Modern Society ”,“ Social and Economic Analysis in Relation to Water Pollution ”.
