Siniša Jembrih, lecturer at the Polytechnic of Security Studies and commander of the JVP of the City of Zagreb, participated as a panelist in the discussion on crisis management.
The 14th autumn expert meeting of the Croatian Firefighting Association began at the Public Institution Firefighting Center for Education and Technological Development in Split-Vučevica, where experts from the field of firefighting and crisis management from all over the country gathered. In addition to various workshops and practical exercises aimed at improving operational capabilities, a panel discussion was held on the topic “Crisis management in major accidents and disasters.”
Prominent representatives of Croatian firefighting communities and experts in crisis management took part in the panel: Commander of the JVP of the City of Zagreb Siniša Jembrih, lecturer at the Polytechnic of Security Studies; Commander of the Osijek-Baranja County Fire Brigade Zoran Pakšec; and the commander of the Fire Brigade of Koprivnica-Križeva County Zvonimir Habijan. The presenters of the panel were the commander of the Fire Brigade of the Istrian County, Dino Kozlevac, and Matea Brižić, representative of the Croatian Red Cross.
The discussion highlighted the importance of a timely and coordinated response to various types of crises and disasters, including fires, floods, earthquakes and pandemics. Key aspects of planning and cooperation between institutions were particularly highlighted, and the panelists shared experiences and best practices gained during emergency situations.
The panel concluded that quick information exchange, quality training, and effective coordination are key elements of successful crisis management and reduction of the harmful consequences of major accidents.
