The University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety (VSS) proudly participated as a co-organizer of the 19th edition of the International Conference “Management and Safety” (M&S), held in Stubičke Toplice on June 14th and 15th.
The “Management and Safety” conference has become a renowned event due to the dedicated work of authors and participants over the years. Since its inception in 2006, the conference has featured 2615 authors and participants, presenting 752 papers. All papers have been reviewed, categorized, and published in the conference proceedings, totaling 7636 pages, creating a valuable resource for further research and development.
This year’s conference theme was “Digitalization and Security”, bringing together leading experts and researchers to discuss the latest challenges and solutions in the context of digital transformation and security.
Following the introductory speeches by the organizers and editors, Dr. Luka Leško, DBA, Dean of University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety (VSS), greeted the attendees in his opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in developing effective and preventive security measures. He also highlighted the significance of digitalization as a key aspect of modern security, calling for continuous research and innovation in this field.
The keynote presentation prepared by Dr. Darko Palačić on “How to Assess the Risks of Applying Artificial Intelligence in Occupational Health and Safety – Modelling the Assessment Process” offers a comprehensive overview of key methods and approaches for the safe and effective integration of AI technologies into workplace environments.
VSS contributed significantly to the scientific and professional discourse, with our faculty and students presenting their research. Dr. Darko Palačić, Head of the Department of Occupational Safety, and assistant Tomislav Katić presented their paper titled “Risks and Opportunities of Digitization of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.”
Dr. Ana Rački Marinković addressed the significant topic of “Digital OSH Tools and Systems and Intellectual Property Protection.”
Furthermore, Dr. Mario Silić, in collaboration with Dr. Darko Palačić, presented the “Risk Management Model for the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Occupational Health and Safety.”
Additionally, Mag. Ing. Marijana Leontić, Dr. Mario Silić, and Mag. Ing. Renata Silić contributed with their paper on “The Impact of Digitalization on Human Health: Effects of Time, Years of Experience, and Stress”, while Dr. Mirsada Ćehić and student Filip Kovačić presented “Revolution in Environmental Protection: (Bio)chemical Sensors in the Digital Society.”
The “Management and Safety 2024” conference once again affirmed its importance as a platform for knowledge and experience exchange and as a catalyst for further development of safety practices and research.
