21st International Conference Man and Working Environment: Safety Engineering & Management – Science, Industry, Education (SEMSIE 2025)
From September 25-26, 2025. The 21st International Conference “Man and Working Environment: Safety Engineering & Management – Science, Industry, Education” (SEMSIE 2025) was held in Sokobanja. The conference brought together scientists and experts from Serbia, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. At this prestigious conference in the field of occupational safety, environmental protection, and fire protection, our professors and a student participated, presenting two original scientific papers.

Our vice dean, Assoc. Ph.D. Darko Palačić presented the results of the research on Occultational Health and Safety Management: An Overview of Fundamental Principles and Philosophy. Our student Filip Kovačić, bacc. An engineering secretary who is currently pursuing his graduate studies presented the results of the Occupational Health and Safety – How to Achieve Effective Performance Evaluation research. He conducted the research with Professor Tomislav Katić, mag. Eng. sec.. and doc. Ph.D. Darko Palačić.

During the conference, a round table was held on the topic of Occupational Safety Engineer – from an identity crisis to a recognized profession, where one of the moderators and panelists for the topic of Employment – Regional Regulations and Practices was our vice dean, Assoc. Ph.D. Darko Palačić. After a short introduction, the vice-dean encouraged a broad discussion in which a large number of conference participants joined. The topic of employment of occupational safety experts has proven to be very topical in various aspects, from legal regulations and market needs in the region, the EU, and the whole world.
