Can you briefly introduce yourself and describe your professional background?
My name is Jagoda Jagnjić Markovinović, a Master of Science in Environmental Safety Engineer. I work in environmental protection and waste management. My work requires constant improvement, which is why I decided to enroll in the Polytechnic of Safety Studies. My main goal was to expand my knowledge and skills that I can apply in my everyday work.
What did you learn during your studies and how did the acquired knowledge influence your professional development?
The study provided me with insight into all areas of safety and their importance, especially in the context of sustainable development. I adopted legal norms and rules of conduct in various situations, which helped me significantly in my everyday tasks. I also learned many new terms and acquired the skill of writing professional papers correctly, which is crucial in my profession.
What was the biggest challenge during your studies and what was most useful to you?
The biggest challenge was the realization of the importance of safety and how it is omnipresent at all levels of society. Conversations with lecturers and knowledge exchange with them were of utmost importance to me. Their expertise and approach helped me understand the complexity of security systems and how to apply them in real-world situations.
Would you recommend the Polytechnic of Security Studies to others? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend the study to anyone who wants to progress and expand their knowledge in the field of security. I believe that education in this sector plays a key role, and without it we would not be able to employ employees for responsible positions in this field. The study provides a solid foundation for professional development and specialization.
Do you have any advice for students who are considering enrolling or have just started their studies?
I recommend that students participate in lectures as much as possible and actively participate in discussions. This way, they can absorb more information and gain valuable knowledge from lecturers, who are experts in their fields. Take the opportunity to learn from the best and build your professional network already during your studies.
