The Professional Undergraduate Study on Security and Safety is a unique bachelor’s program that offers you the opportunity to study in the field of integral and corporate security. After a three-year professional safety study, according to the type of work, the student is qualified for independent management of occupational safety work in the status of occupational safety expert or fire protection work in legal and professional services in order to perform permanent fire duty and implement preventive fire protection.
After the completion of the three-year study (6 semesters), 180 ECTS points are acquired, which is the first level of Bologna higher education and professional title: Baccalaureus engineer of security and safety with the abbreviation bacc. ing. sec.
The professional study ends with the preparation of the final thesis. Students who complete their studies are issued a diploma and a supplement – a supplementary study document in Croatian and English with information about the student, title obtained, degree of qualification, method of study, success in studies and acquired competencies.

The study is part-time, and classes are held outside working hours according to the regular program and academic calendar, which includes 30 weeks of classes per year, summer and winter holidays, and regular and special exam periods.

The University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety will publish the ranking of applicants and determine the applicants who have gained the right to enroll. Applicants who have acquired the right to enroll will be notified of this in writing. The candidate has the right to complain about the correctness of the implementation, which is submitted to the Commission within 24 hours of the publication of the order list on the notice board of the University.

The interest of security specialists is promising. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, employers are obliged to employ an occupational safety specialist if they employ more than 50 workers. Depending on the fire and explosion hazard assessment, there are similar requirements for hiring fire safety professionals. Security experts are also employed in insurance and reinsurance companies, security companies, state administration, the State Inspectorate, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Defense, in physical and technical protection, civil protection, fire brigades, companies that offer goods and services for protection persons and property etc.

In relation to the complexity of the jobs of security experts who complete a three-year course and obtain 180 ECTS credits, certain jobs are defined that include:
– creation of various norms necessary for safe work
– preparation of term plans and programs based on risk assessment
– assignment of tasks to executors and verification of execution
– checking the quality of performed operations
– identification of possible hazards for work safety and introduction of safety means and procedures
– related jobs
– supervision of other associates.
To work in classes as a vocational teacher of occupational safety or fire safety, for which 180 ECTS credits are provided, there are certain jobs that include:
– planning educational content for practical teaching
– creation of an implementation plan and program of practical teaching
– preparation of practical teaching based on implementation plans and programs
– checking and evaluating the achieved practical knowledge and skills of students
– keeping class records and administration
– related jobs
– supervision of other associates.
