In the context of the obligation for continuous professional development and registration in the Training and Development Registry for Occupational Safety and Health and Occupational Safety Professionals, which came into effect on September 1, 2023 (regulated by the Regulation on Training and Development in Occupational Safety and Health and the Passing of Professional Examinations, Official Gazette 142/21), the second professional seminar organized by the University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety, entitled “Trends and Examples of Good Practice in Occupational Safety and Health,” was held on April 11, 2024.
After the welcoming speech by the Dean of the University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety, Dr. Luka Leško, DBA, emphasizing the importance of continuous professional development in the field, participants had the opportunity to listen to a presentation by Muhidin Omerdić, MSc, BEng, (Head of the Occupational Safety Improvement Service and Authorization at the Ministry of Labor, Pension System, Family, and Social Policy) on the topic of the Importance of Training Programs for Safe Work Practices. Following that, Dr. Darko Palačić, Head of the Department for Occupational Safety at the University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety, delivered a lecture on Health and Safety Management at Work: A Leap into the Future. Additionally, Tomislav Katić, MSc in Security Engineering and an assistant at the University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety, spoke about the future of occupational safety, focusing on the integration of technical knowledge and leadership. The seminar was concluded by Professor Ana Rački Marinković, PhD, from the University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety, with a lecture on administrative procedures in the field of occupational safety and health.
