University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety (VSS) Supports Newly Established Occupational Safety Community at Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK)

Today, the inaugural session of the Occupational Safety Community at the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) was held, bringing together experts with the aim of professional networking and enhancing practices in occupational safety. The session attracted the attention of numerous stakeholders, including Marga Hajdin, MSc, Quality Department Head at the VSS.

The newly elected president of the Community, Fabjan Ruščić, Head of the Occupational Safety Sector at Cemex Croatia and a former student of the University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety, highlighted the key activities that will characterize the Community’s work in the coming period. This includes advocating for the interests of members, economic development in the field of occupational safety, and educating business owners.

Fabjan Ruščić emphasized, ‘This Community provides a platform for exchanging experiences and best practices in the field of occupational safety, improving the legislative framework, and collaborating with all relevant bodies.’

Alongside Ruščić, Sebastian Milotić from Trgometal was elected as the Deputy President of the Community, further confirming the broad support and interest of experts in this initiative.

Marina Rožić, the Secretary General of HGK, emphasized the importance of this Community as a platform for improving the occupational safety system and defining quality standards. ‘This is a step towards strengthening the profession and ensuring a healthier and safer working environment for all employees,‘ added Rožić.

The session was attended by eminent individuals such as Marina Borić, Head of the Occupational Safety Sector at the Ministry of Labor, Pension System, Family, and Social Policy, and Helena Blažić from the Croatian Society of Occupational Medicine

‘Professionals must collaborate to ensure the transfer of best practices and improve occupational safety measures,‘ emphasized Marina Borić, announcing upcoming amendments to the Occupational Safety Act.

The involvement of the University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety in supporting the establishment of this Community was particularly highlighted. Their participation underscores the importance of the academic community in promoting safety and occupational protection and contributes to a broader discussion on improving practices in this vital domain.

Collaboration among all relevant stakeholders is crucial for crafting effective and sustainable solutions in the field of occupational safety,’ concluded Borić, urging members of the Community to actively engage in the process of amending relevant legislation.

This initiative represents an important step towards enhancing safety and occupational protection in Croatia, highlighting the significance of professional networking and collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
